Cassandra Clare

Characters:
Clarissa Fray, Jace Wayland, Alec Lightwood, Isabelle Lightwood, Simon Lewis, Luke Graymark, Jocelyn Fray, Hodge Starkweather, Mangus Bane, Valentine Morgenstern

This book I picked up because I had seen it in a book haul. I am really glad I did. This book was really good. Kept me on the edge of my seat. Jace is that very sarcastic full of himself kind of guy that most of use girls seem to go crazy over. Clary, well she starts out as that girl you know that doesn't get the obvious things that are right in front of her, of course talking about her friend. In the end of this book you are left kind of upset and I don't want to spoil it for anybody but it really makes you want to keep reading to find out what happens next. I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars because it was worth the time in picking up and kept you wanting to know what was going to happen.

In book 2 of The Mortal Instrument series, City of Ashes lives up to the first. Clary is trying to come to terms with Jace being her brother. Her friendship with Simon takes a different turn. Simon goes from being human to being a vampire and Clary blames herself. Somebody starts murdering Downworlder children and draining them of all their blood, some think it is the vampires. In this book you start to think that maybe Jace is taking sides with his father, Valentine, who has also stolen the Soul Sword. With this you learn that Valentine is able to summon and control demons. If you loved the first book I strongly suggest you read this book too. You will not be let down and it will keep you on the edge or your seat. I gave this a 4 out of 5 stars.

City of Glass is the 3rd book in The Mortal Insturment series by Cassandra Clare. Danger comes to the characters in this book as they are attempting to enter into the city. While the portal is open they are attacked by Forsaken and end up being pushed into the portal so Mangus can close it and keep the Forsaken from entering the city. In all the rush Jace brings Simon with him, you learn that otherwise he would have died. The clave take Simon into prison because he is the first vampire of his kind, a Daywalker, and now they think he is a part of Valentine and his plan. You meet Sebastian in this book and he is the dreamy, good manner, good looking guy all girls want. Jace instantly doesn't like him, you will wonder until later why. Clary opens a portal to get into the city without permission and could be killed for breaking the law. I am happy to say that you learn in this book that NO JACE AND CLARY ARE NOT RELATED. In fact Clary finds that Sebastian is her brother and something dark. Valentine had given her mother something that made Sebastian half demon half shadowhunter.  In the end of the book Valentine is no longer a worry, Clary and Jace are together, Jocelyn and Luke have admitted their love for each other, Alec and Mangus have made it public they are together. I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars because this book in the series was filled with so much suspense and told you so much all together. So far this is my favorite book in the series.

Characters:
Clarissa Fray, Jace Wayland, Alec Lightwood, Isabelle Lightwood, Simon Lewis, Luke Graymark, Jocelyn Fray, Mangus Bane,  Maia Roberts, Sebastian Verlac, Lilith, Maureen Brown, Camille Belcourt, Jordan

City of Fallen Angles is the 4th of the 6 book series. I was kind of on the fence when I picked this up to read and it did take me longer that normal to want to read it. I loved the way book 3 ended and I was my thought that it was the end of the series. If you are to read any other review many think the same as well. Fallen Angels was better than I thought it would be. You got to see the power behind Simon's mark of Cain. Which is somewhat of a surprise to not only him but Jace when he sees what happens. In this book he is being attacked, or you think so, but really he is wanted by Lilith to help bring back Sebastian. She as you learn was Adam's first wife and was the one in which gave her blood to Valentine for Sebastian (Jonathan). She feels as though because Clary has brought back Jace after he died in the last book that dark is owed a life too. Her plan is to have Simon, who is suppose to be under the watch of Jordan(Maia's ex that turned her)but he follows Maureen(crazy fan of Simon's that he attacked and drank some of her blood),to bite Sebastian and then have him drink Simon's blood to bring him back. To get them to do so Lilith has been going into Jaces dreams and got control of his mind so that he would bring and possibly kill Clary in order for Simon to do what he is asked. In the end Lilith goes to attack and kill Clary herself and Simon steps between then letting the Curse of Cain kill her instead. by the end of the book things seem fine until Jace is taken by Sebastian and the book ends. I give this book 3 stars out of 5 because it ended leaving you on a cliff hanger and wanting to read the next and was nice to see Simon play more of a role in the books but I still feel 3 books might have been enough.
